Former rector held in Turkey's Gülen probe
Former rector of Çanakkale OnsekizMart University Sedat Laçiner has been detained in northwesternTurkey's Çanakkale province in connection with a probe into the"parallel state" group, police sources said Dec. 26.
According to the sources, policelaunched an operation at different addresses in the province earlymorning and detained Laçiner and many other businessmen.

Israel deal would allow Turkish products to enter Gaza easier, says minister
Turkish Customs and Trade Minister Bülent Tüfenkçi said Dec. 25 that if an agreement with Israel was reached after five years of tense relations, it would allow Turkish products to enter Gaza more easily.
Answering questions at a news conference with members of the Economy Correspondents' Association, Tüfenkçi said Tel Aviv would allow Turkish products to enter Gaza.

The Turkish-Japanese joint production "Ertu?rul 1890" was released on Dec. 25 in Turkish movie theaters following a gala on Dec. 24 at Istanbul's Zorlu PSM.
The head of production for the film, Ömer Faruk Sorak, said it was the biggest project among their international films.
