The Interior Ministry removed a district co-mayor in the southeastern province of Van from her post on Oct. 28, on charges of "declaring self-governance."

The Turkish Interior Ministry has suspended the co-mayors of the eastern province of Batman, along with 17 members of the municipal council and three members of the provincial council, late Oct. 15, on grounds they made "self-governing" statements. 

As many as 85 officials from the Peoples? Democratic Party (HDP) and the Democratic Unity Party (DBP), including the mayor of the southeastern province of Batman and his deputy, have been detained after they attempted to enter a military security zone in Batman?s Sason district.

At least 55 militants were killed when Turkish warplanes hit the outlawed Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) camps in northern Iraq overnight, security sources told Reuters on Sept. 19.
   
The jets took off from a base in Diyarbak?r, in Turkey's southeast, and later returned without damage, the sources said.

President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an slammed the Peoples? Democratic Party (HDP) mayors of the southeastern provinces of Batman and Diyarbak?r for not greeting him at the airport when he arrived in the area on May 2.
