A tragic accident on the main road between Sofia and Varna near Novo Selo in Veliko Tarnovo has resulted in a joint investigation by the district prosecutor's office. The collision involved two vehicles and led to the immediate fatalities of a 36-year-old Bulgarian and an American.

A yellow and orange heat code has been announced throughout Bulgaria. In Silistra, Ruse, Veliko Tarnovo, Sliven, Yambol, Stara Zagora, Plovdiv, Pazardzhik, Blagoevgrad and Haskovo, an orange code for dangerous weather is in effect, where up to 40 degrees Celsius are expected in some places.

The National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology issued an orange code for today for high temperatures up to 40 degrees Celsius in 7 provinces - Pleven, Veliko Tarnovo, Ruse, Stara Zagora, Plovdiv, Pazardzhik and Blagoevgrad. For other provinces, the warning code is yellow.

A yellow code for significant rainfall with thunder and hail conditions has been announced for today in the areas of: Lovech, Gabrovo, Veliko Tarnovo, Targovishte and Razgrad. In some areas, rainfall amounts will reach 30-35 mm.

More than 50 museums and galleries in Sofia will join the "European Night of Museums" initiative. With free admission, there will be exhibitions, concerts, workshops, films and organized tours in cultural spaces in Sofia and the country.
