3 People Have Died After Torrential Rains in the South-East Bulgarian District of Burgas.

Three people have died after torrential rains on 24th of October triggered floodings in the South-East Bulgarian district of Burgas. An elderly person from the village of Polski izvor has drowned. The surge from the downpouring rain flooded the first floor of his house while he was asleep and could not get out.

782 Residential Buildings were Rehabilitated under the National Energy Efficiency Program

As of October 18, 2017, a total of 782 residential buildings throughout the country have been completely renovated and put into operation after being renovated under the National Energy Efficiency Program. The residents pleased by improved housing infrastructure are 93 840 people living in them.

Sand Sculptures Festival to Take Place in Burgas

For another year in Burgas will take place the Sand Sculptures Festival 2017. A total of 21 sand sculpture artists from Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Poland, Ukraine, Turkey, Germany, Latvia, Portugal and Russia are displaying their works at the 10thFestival of Sand Figures - Sand Tales - which opened in Ezero (Lake) park in the sea capital of Bulgaria.

Rare Gold Coin Was Discovered in Burgas District

A rare gold coin from the time of the Byzantine Emperor Phocas was discovered during excavations at Rusokastro Fortress, which is located on a hill near Zhelyazovo village, in Burgas district in southeastern Bulgaria, quoted by the Bulgarian National Television. 

The find proves that the fortress was active in the 6th century, the archaeological team commented.

Bulgarian Govt Grants BGN 9.3 M More for MiG-29 Aircraft

At its last meeting, the Borisov 2 cabinet allocated additional funding for the MiG-29 fighter aircraft. The Defence Ministry received an additional BGN 9.3 M.

The former soldier barracks in Aytos become the property of the local authorities. The airport in Ravnets, which is no longer needed by the Ministry of Defence, is transferred to Burgas municipality.
