Rain pounds western provinces, hits Bursa most
Torrential rains have lashed some western parts of Türkiye, with the northwestern province of Bursa bearing the brunt the most as its bus terminal's porch has collapsed.
Following the torrential rain warnings issued for nine provinces, including Bursa, the expected rain hit the city on Aug. 31.

Woman opens coffee house only for females
A woman in the eastern province of Elazığ has converted a coffee house inherited from her father into a venue only for women of the Hal village, İhlas News Agency has reported.
"We, female villagers, are happy to be together, joining ourselves," 55-year-old Ayşe Günay told the news agency.

Solar car produced by students starts country tour
A team from Türkiye's leading Istanbul Technical University (İTÜ) has started a 1,300-kilometers Türkiye tour with a solar car they produced, "ARIba ZES X."
The team will represent Türkiye in the European Solar Challenge, a solar car race that will be held in Belgium in September and will be attended by many teams from different countries of the world.

Centers formed to protect wildlife animals impacted by wildfires
Türkiye has decided to establish centers to protect and rehabilitate wildlife animals following the wildfires in the Aegean province of Muğla's Marmaris district, said Hüseyin Gökçe Meşe, an official from the Nature Conservation and National Parks (DKMP).
Number of deaths due to drugs declining: Minister
The number of deaths due to drugs in Türkiye has been declining regularly in the last five years, Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu has said.
"We will not let our kids, youth to fall in this quicksand [of drugs] with our determination in our fight against the drugs," Soylu said on Twitter on June 25.

Sumerologist turns 109
Veteran Turkish Sumerologist Muazzez İlmiye Çığ, who lives in the southern province of Mersin, has turned 109 years old. Mersin's Mezitli district Mayor Neşet Tarhan made a surprise visit to Çığ and at her home with his wife Sembol Tarhan.

Stellantis to move Doblo production to Spain
Stellantis Group, a major shareholder in Turkish carmaker Tofaş, has announced that the new Fiat Doblo will be produced in Spain.
Tofaş has been manufacturing Fiat Doblo since 2000 at its plant in the northwestern province of Bursa.
