New Roman Catholic Archbishop of Alba Iulia installed with thousands of pilgrims in attendance

Monsignor Kovács Gergely was consecrated and installed as the new Roman Catholic Archbishop of Alba Iulia in a ceremony celebrated on Saturday at the St. Michael Cathedral of Alba Iulia, with dozens of ecclesiastical officials - cardinals, bishops, representatives of the other Churches in Transylvania - attending.

Bucharest-Ilfov ISU conducts field reconnaissances to identify possible damages following earthquake

Following the earthquake which occurred at 3:38hrs, the Bucharest-Ilfov Inspectorate for Emergency Situation (ISU) conducted field reconnaissances in order to identify possible damages, taking into account that no calls were made to the 112 emergency number.

Code Yellow for Floods in Covasna, Brasov and Buzau counties

Bucharest, Aug 18 /Agerpres/ - The National Institute of Hydrology and Water Management issued on Saturday afternoon a Code Yellow for Floods in the Covasna, Brasov and Buzau counties, valid until 11:00 pm.

According to hydrologists, due to the rainfall there is potential local flooding effects and increase in flows and levels of rivers, in the counties of Covasna, Brasov and Buzau.

MEP Macovei: Minorities' rights are respected in Romania; rights of Romanians in Covasna, Harghita violated

Romanian MEP Monica Macovei (of the Democratic Liberal Party, PDL) said on Thursday that the minorities' rights, of the Hungarian minority included, are respected in Romania, but an unknown problem is the fact that the Romanians' rights are not respected in Covasna and Harghita counties (central Romania).
