Turkey was coming to terms on Monday with the opposition's unexpected success in local elections which saw it outperform President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's ruling party and add to municipalities gained five years ago.

The devastating twin earthquakes in early February last year affected not only buildings but also the economy of southern Türkiye.

Before the earthquakes, Adıyaman's economy was based on two main pillars: Agriculture and livestock, and textile factories, which accounted for almost 90 percent of the city's industry. Food, construction and building materials were also produced.

The photo archive of German archaeologist Professor Friedrich Karl Dörner's archaeological work in the eastern province of Adıyaman between 1953 and 1970 has been handed over to the Turkish authorities by Germany's Münster University.

Two student groups, who had experienced the Van earthquakes in 2011 and the Kahramanmaraş earthquakes in February, embarked on an innovative search and rescue mission project by developing a drone, drawing from their personal encounters.

"Our priority is to erase the traces of the earthquake as soon as possible and revive our cities," President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said on May 20 during a visit to earthquake-hit province of Adıyaman.

In the southern quake-hit province of Adıyaman, "container bazaars" have been established at several points of the city center as tradesmen whose workplaces were destroyed in the quakes are trying to provide services in containers.

Despite witnessing the quakes only a day after bagging medals, four young athletes from the southern province of Adıyaman did not lose heart and now continue to train in the tent city established around the track they used to practice on to fulfill their dreams.

Industry and Technology Minister Mustafa Varank has announced the damage report of industrial facilities in the provinces affected by the earthquake.

Varank stated that seven out of the 34 Organized Industrial Zones (OSB) in the earthquake region suffered partial damage to infrastructure, noting that there were 5,600 facilities with heavy and medium damage.

Education will resume on March 27 in some districts of quake-stricken southern provinces of Hatay, Kahramanmaraş, Malatya and Adıyaman, Education Minister Mahmut Özer has announced.

Floods caused by heavy rain have killed at least ten people in Turkey's Sanliurfa and Adiyaman provinces, which were hit by severe twin earthquakes in February.

"Our goal is to find our missing people as soon as possible," Adil Karaismailoglu, Minister for Transport and Infrastructure, said on Wednesday.
