New terminal for Athens airport
Athens International Airport (AIA) intends to tackle a spike in incoming traffic with the operation of a third terminal station by the end of this year. This is the terminal that until now operated only to cover the peak days of the summer season.

Air passenger data fly high
Greek airports are enjoying another year of growth in passenger traffic, which came to an impressive 10.3 percent in the first six months of 2017, according to official data. Athens airport has also recorded a notable rise, helped by the increase in flights.

Athens, an oppressive city
The other night, I was noticing the crowds of foreign tourists in Athens. Areas between Monastiraki and Syntagma were packed, and I had to jostle through crowds on the sidewalk. The restaurants on Mitropoleos Street were packed.

Athens Municipality opens air-conditioned spaces to public
The City of Athens and other municipal authorities around the country are keeping community centers and other air-conditioned facilities open all day to offer citizens protection from the heat wave, for as long as it lasts.
Chinese Opera | Athens | July 12
The Suzhou Kun Opera Theater of Jiangsu Province in China comes to Athens's Herod Atticus on the invitation of the Greek Festival and as part of a program of cultural exchanges between the two countries, with the opera "The Peony Pavilion." Written by Tang Xianzu, this tribute to the 16th century Chinese Kun Opera form is a tale of love and tragedy. The performance starts at 9 p.m.

Traffic restrictions to be imposed for concert on Wednesday at Panathenaic Stadium
The Athens municipal authority and Traffic Police will be closing off roads around the Panathenaic (Kallimarmaro) Stadium on Wednesday evening for a major concert.

Funky Souvenirs | Athens | July 11 - October 8
The fifth annual installment of the "It's all, oh so souvenir to me!" initiative brings together more than 40 graphic designers, architects, artists, etc, who have been invited to redefine the Greek souvenir and, by extension, Greece's tourism identity. Their work will be on display and sale starting on Tuesday, July 11 - with a big party, from 9 p.m.

New heatwave to hit Greece
