MPs pass changes to RTV Slovenija act

Ljubljana – The National Assembly passed in 53:26 vote on Thursday changes to the act on RTV Slovenija with which the government would like to reduce what it sees as the influence of politics on the public broadcaster. The changes come after RTV journalists recently went on strike twice demanding editorial autonomy.

Ljubljana – The government adopted and filed to parliament on Friday a bill to reform the model of management and oversight at RTV Slovenija to reduce what is perceived as political meddling with the public broadcaster. This comes after RTV journalists recently went on strike twice demanding editorial autonomy.

RTV Slovenija journalists continue strike amid blows from higher-ups

Ljubljana – RTV Slovenija journalists continued on Monday the strike they first staged on 23 May, ending the day with a rally protesting against political interference. The public broadcaster’s heads meanwhile ordered that news shows be radically short or cancelled today, a move the staff see as an attempt to undermine the strike.

RTV Slovenija journalists to go on strike on Monday

Ljubljana – Journalists at public broadcaster RTV Slovenija will go on strike on Monday after their 23 May strike and subsequent talks with the management brought no progress on their strike demands.

The strike will take place between 2pm and 11pm, and a rally will be held at 7pm in Republic Square, across the street from the National Assembly.

No conclusions as MPs debate situation at RTV Slovenija

Ljubljana – The centre-left opposition failed to muster support for a series of resolutions they proposed in response to what they see as political pressure on editorial independence and autonomy of the public broadcaster, as the relevant parliamentary committee discussed the situation at RTV Slovenija for four hours on Friday.
