Turkey on Wednesday said it strongly condemned French President Emmanuel Macron's decision to declare April 24 as a day for the commemoration of the Armenian genocide, an issue that caused regular friction between Turkey and European Union nations.

A motion by Israeli lawmakers on recognizing the Armenian "genocide" will harm Israel itself, Turkish Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hami Aksoy said on May 25.

Israeli lawmakers on May 23 approved a motion to hold a plenary debate on "recognizing the Armenian genocide," as relations between Israel and Turkey continue their downward spiral. 

The Turkish embassy in Berlin criticized on May 7 the protracted trial of far-right extremists who are suspected of killing eight Turkish immigrants, a Greek citizen and a German policewoman between 2000 and 2007.

The main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) has condemned a recent motion in the Dutch parliament that recognized the 1915 mass killing of Armenians under the Ottoman Empire as “genocide.”

Turkey on Feb. 22 strongly condemned the Dutch parliament’s motion recognizing Armenian allegations of “genocide” during the events of 1915.

Turkish Foreign Ministry on Feb. 17 summoned the Dutch charge d'affaires over reports that a Dutch politician was expected to submit a motion to the parliament recognizing the killings of Ottoman Armenians in 1915 as “genocide.”

Senior members of the U.S. House Foreign Affairs Committee Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA) and Ted Poe (R-TX), Tom Lantos Human Rights Commission Co-Chairman Jim McGovern (D-MA), and Representatives Jim Costa (D-CA) and John Sarbanes (D-MD) condemned Turkish President Erdogan’s violent crackdown – both in Turkey and the U.S.
