Russian strikes kill 5 civilians in Syria regime advance
Five civilians died on Feb. 24 in Russian air strikes backing Syrian regime forces as they chip away at the country's last major rebel bastion, a war monitor said.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the deadly raids hit the area of Jabal al-Zawiya in the south of Idlib province.

Air strikes believed to have been carried out by Russian jets killed at least 30 people in the town of Ariha in northwestern Syria on Nov. 29, rescue workers in the rebel-held area said, part of an escalation of Russian strikes near the Turkish border.

At least 35 civilians were killed and 120 were injured when a Syrian army fighter jet crashed into a busy marketplace in the rebel-held northwestern town of Ariha on August 3, Turkey's state-run Anadolu Agency reported.

The Syrian army has retreated from the northwestern town of Ariha, after a coalition of anti-government forces took over this last Idlib fortress.
The anti-government forces are mostly comprised of the al-Nusra front, an Al Qaeda offshoot.

Rebels capture last Syrian town in Idlib province
The Syrian army has pulled back from the northwestern city of Ariha after a coalition of insurgent groups seized the last city in Idlib province in northwestern Syria near the Turkish border that was still held by the government.
