Four lightly injured by lightning on Acropolis Hill

Four people were lightly injured on Wednesday afternoon when lightning struck the Acropolis Hill during a thunderstorm, the Culture Ministry said.
The citadel's lightning rod was hit by a bolt and its impact smashed the windows of the ticket booths at the entrance to the ancient site, injuring two Culture Ministry employees and two tourists.

Greece hit more about 3,000 times by lightning on Monday's storms

Lightning struck Greece around 3,000 times during the powerful rainstorms that swept the country on Monday, mainly over sea areas, according to the National Observatory of Athens.
The lightning was detected by the ZEUS long-range lightning detection system operated by the observatory.

When lightning strikes 103,000 times

Lightning hit Greece almost 103,000 times last month, the highest number of strikes since 2005, when records began, the National Observatory of Athens (NOA) has said.

The NOA's Zeus long-range lightning detection network recorded 102,944 lightning strikes in July, beating the previous monthly record of 83,373 registered in the same month in 2009
