Romania to issue electronic identity documents starting August 2021
Romania is under an obligation to issue electronic identity documents starting August 2021, and the Interior Ministry (MAI) will hold a public debate next week on the government ordinance it initiated on this matter, Interior Minister Marcel Vela said Friday.

Bulgarians Remain Skeptical about Payments Through Biometric Technologies
53% of Bulgarian consumers worry that switching to biometric identification in online payments will dramatically increase the number of identity frauds. This is shown in a survey of the Paysafe payment solution provider.
According to data, 81% of respondents in Bulgaria still prefer traditional payment passwords online due to security concerns with new biometric options.
Greek police launch tender for secure ID cards, passports
The Greek Police (ELAS) on Thursday launched a tender to create a new electronic system that will issue new, more secure identity cards in Greece that will meet the standards and technical specifications of the European Union.
Apart from the new IDs, the Integrated Information System for Security Documents will also provide new secure driving licenses and upgrade existing passports.
The EU introduces mandatory fingerprints and a chip into ID cards
The EU Commission plans to launch a proposed law to increase security within the bloc's borders, including fingerprinting in ID cards, reported the Bulgarian National Television.
Electronic Identity Cards are Postponed for 2019.
The government is quietly preparing to postpone once again the introduction of personal documents with electronic identification. The new date on which the government is planning to introduce them is January 1, 2019.

Police in Istanbul on May 16 seized 553 coins dating back to the Byzantine and Roman period inside a plastic bag held by a passenger in a cab, Doğan News Agency has reported.
Police security teams stopped a suspicious cab in the main bus terminal in the Bayrampaşa district and conducted searches inside the car.

Fingerprint Authentication Mandatory in Bulgarian Hospitals As Of November 1
The new system for fingerprint authentication has been introduced in all health facilities in Bulgaria as of November 1.
As of Tuesday, all hospitals operating with the National Health Insurance Fund (NZOK) will have to use the devices and register patients with them, if hospitals are to be paid for their activities at the end of each month.
