Tsakalotos, Stournaras at Frankfurt conference
Finance Minister Euclid Tsakalotos will be the keynote speaker at an Economist conference in Frankfurt on Wednesday titled "Greece: A Comeback to the Financial Markets?"
Also addressing the conference will be Alternate Economy Minister Alexis Haritsis, Bank of Greece Governor Yannis Stournaras and his fellow ECB Executive Board member Benoit Coeure.

Greek Central Banker: Greece has done everything required and its partners must now do their part
Greece has done everything it was required to do and it is now the turn of Greece’s partners, especially the Eurogroup, to assume their responsibilities, Bank of Greece governor Yannis Stournaras said in an article published by the Greek newspaper “Kathimerini” on Sunday.

Papademos attack probe reveals contradictory claims, security shortfalls
As the Greek Police's counterterrorism department on Friday examined the remains of a letter bomb that detonated in the hands of former premier Lucas Papademos on Thursday, it remained unclear how the letter came into Papademos's hands while there were indications of security lapses.
EX-PM Lucas Papademos and two others injured in car blast
Former Greek prime minister Lucas Papademos and two other people were hurt after he opened a letter bomb while in his car in central Athens.
Papademos reportedly suffered injuries to his hands and legs after opening the parcel.
He was transferred to Evangelismos hospital along with his driver and a body guard who were also injured.
Extrajudicial mechanism, online auctions in full use from August
Entrepreneurs with debts to the state and the banks will as of August 5 be able to apply to settle their arrears under the so-called extrajudicial mechanism, while according to the deputy governor of the Bank of Greece, Theodoros Mitrakos, online property auctions will be in full swing by late August.
Two former bankers charged with breach of faith
The Athens Court of First Instance on Thursday brought criminal charges of breach of faith against the former governor of the Bank of Greece, Giorgos Provopoulos, and the former chairman of Piraeus Bank, Michalis Sallas, after a probe allegedly found them responsible for losses suffered by social insurance funds ahead of the country's economic crisis.

Costly games
The government's biggest problem is its lack of credibility, which is also the case for the country itself. We've paid dearly for this and there is not a single good reason for us to continue digging ourselves deeper into the hole.
