Bastion from World War II abandoned
The cannons in the Turgut Reis Bastion, built for the defense of the Bosphorus during World War II in the northwestern province of Çanakkale, have started to rust, turning into a sad sight to behold, says a lecturer.

Exarchia residents write to prosecutor, complaining about crime
A group of 400 residents from the downtown neighborhood of Exarchia have written to the Athens prosecutor's office, complaining about a spike in crime in their area.
In a three-page letter, the residents complain about the fact that the police are basically banned from entering Exarchia, a traditional bastion for Greek anarchists, noting that the problem is spreading beyond Exarchia.
Material from Battle of Gallipoli stolen in Turkey's Çanakkale
Bullets and cartridges from the 1915 Battle of Gallipoli have been stolen from the Namazgâh Bastion of Kilitbahir Castle in the western province of Çanakkale, daily Habertürk has reported.
Historic bastion gets contentious makeover
The Anadolu Hamidiye Bastion, built by the Sultan Abdulhamid II in 1892 to provide security for the Dardanelles, has been given a controversial makeover that has resulted in the desctruction of much the facility's green area.
