Battle of al-Bab

At least 30 Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) militants have been neutralized in northern Syria in the last 24 hours as part of the ongoing Euphrates Shield operation, according to a Turkish General Staff statement released on Jan. 31.      

Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) jihadists have started to leave their positions and withdraw from the northwestern Syrian town of al-Bab following an intense military campaign conducted by the Turkish army and Free Syrian Army (FSA) elements, military sources said on Jan. 27. 

Turkish special forces have captured two regional leaders of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), referred to as "emirs," in the Syrian town of al-Bab, while Turkish air strikes as part of the Euphrates Shield Operation have killed 17 other "emirs" in the same town.

One Turkish soldier was killed and five others were wounded on Jan. 25 during the ongoing Euphrates Shield operation in northern Syria, state-run Anadolu Agency has reported.
