Bulgaria's Borissov to Head New Coalition Govt

GERB and the United Patriots, a coalition that brings together three nationalist parties, the National Front for Salvation of Bulgaria, VMRO and ATAKA, agreed on Tuesday to form a coalition government with a four-year mandate and Boyko Borissov as prime minister.

The agreement was announced after a first round of negotiations for a new cabinet was held in parliament.

GERB and the United Patriots agreed on Tuesday that they will have a government with "a clear mandate of four years" and GERB leader Boyko Borisov as Prime Minister. This was decided at the first official meeting between the two formations in Parliament held as GERB tries to form a government coalition.

All participants said that there were no negotiations for ministerial posts.

Boyko Borisov, GERB Wants to Form a Government by End-April

Bulgaria's largest party, the centre-right GERB, expects to form a government with three nationalist parties by late April and return Boyko Borisov to power as prime minister, a senior party official said on Monday.

Borisov's GERB won 95 seats in the general election on March 26, beating its leftist Socialist rivals, but it failed to gain an outright 121-seat majority in parliament.

CEC Announces 12 More Persons Elected to National Assembly

The Central Election Commission has announced the names of 12 more persons who are becoming members of the 44th National Assembly after the snap elections on March 26. The announcement came after 12 members elected in two constituencies each finally chose the constituency they want to represent, according to BNR.
