Bulgaria emerges as a standout performer in the European Union's automotive market, boasting the second-highest growth rate in new car sales, according to data released by the Association of Automobile Manufacturers in Europe (ACEA).
Some 900,000 cars expected to be sold this year
Representatives of the auto industry expect around 400,000 to 450,000 vehicles to be sold in the next 7 months with total car sales on the local market reaching around 900,000 this year.
The first five months of 2023 saw record sales of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles as many consumers turned to cars as safe "investment."

Germany, EU reach agreement in combustion engine row
Germany and the European Union announced on March 25 that they have reached an agreement in their dispute over the future of cars with combustion engines, allowing the registration of new vehicles with such engines even after 2035 provided they use climate-neutral fuel only.

Turkey’s road motor vehicle registrations jump 11 percent in 2021
More than 1.15 million motor vehicles were registered in Turkey last year, up 11 percent from 2020, according to data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) on Jan. 26.
The number of withdrawn road motor vehicles decreased by 11.2 percent to 42,924.
