US and Greek navy in joint exercise (photos)

Greek frigate “Kountouriotis” took part in a passing navy exercise (PASSEX) with US navy force Carrier Strike Group 2 in the region between Crete and the Peloponnese. The Greek frigate operated with the USS GEORGE H. W. BUSH Nimitz class super-carrier and the USS PHILIPPINE SEA, along with a number of the two US vessel’s organic helicopters.

The USS George H.W. Bush pulled into Marathi Piers, In Souda, Crete in Greece. The George H.W. Bush Carrier Strike Group will continue to provide support to allies and partners, deter potential threats and conduct strikes against ISIS operators and infrastructure in support of Operation Inherent Resolve.
