Haute couture week in Paris showcases the fashion world's most elite outfits - one-off, made-to-measure creations that the labels hope will adorn red carpets and high society events around the world.

As Paris Couture Week drew to a close, Fendi offered a hypnotic blend of minimalist futurism and homage to the legendary Karl Lagerfeld.

Colourful flowers, sequins and feathers adorned Chanel's Impressionist-inspired haute couture show in Paris on July 6, held in front of a live audience as COVID-19 restrictions ease in France.

"Considering the current situation and following the guidance of Chinese authorities, Chanel has decided to postpone its project of a replica of the Paris - 31 rue Cambon 2019/20 Métiers d'art collection in May in Beijing to a later and more appropriate moment,"the fashion house said in a statement.

When Karl Lagerfeld draws on Greece for inspiration for the fashion powerhouse of Chanel he doesn't bother trying to obtain permission to stage a show at one of the country's ancient monuments (unlike Gucci which tried to secure the Parthenon, but had its request rejected in February).

Ancient Greece with a modern flair was recreated in style on Wednesday during Chanel’s Cruise show in Paris, which was put together by the well-known fashion showman, Karl Lagerfeld.

The collection titled The Modernity of Antiquity showcased Chanel’s typical tweed with a twist of Greek as well as chiffon creating the look of a Greek goddess.

Rather than imitating its valuable "real" siblings, creative faux jewelry has long taken a bold stylistic direction of its own. As Coco Chanel, a designer whose adornment vision included both real and fake pieces, once put it: "Costume jewelry is not made to give women an aura of wealth, but to make them beautiful."

ApArt in central Athens is hosting an exhibition-sale of luxury vintage costume jewelry running from Friday, November 11, to Sunday, November 13. Going on display are pieces created for leading French fashion houses Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent, Dior, Lanvin, Scherrer and Spain's Loewe.
