Military sources on Saturday confirmed the arrest of the leader of the Ansaru Islamic Sect, Khalid Albarnawi, who was described as the second in command to Abubakar Shekau in the hierarchy of the Boko Haram terrorists group. He is regarded as the most influential member of Nigeria’s terror network with contacts to other Jihadi groups in North Africa and the Middle East.

Two female suicide bombers blew themselves up in a northeastern Nigerian refugee camp, killing at least 58 people, health and rescue officials said Feb. 10, according to the Associated Press.
Suicide attack in Nigeria leaves 10 dead
A teenager suicide bomber blew himself up on Friday at a busy market in northern Nigeria killing at least ten people and injuring 28.
Witnesses say that a huge blast occurred at around midday in the market in Gombi in Adamawa state, where the jihadist Boko Haram group is waging an insurgency.

Three bomb blasts on Sept.20 rocked the northeastern Nigerian city of Maiduguri, the stronghold of Boko Haram Islamists, the army said, but there were no immediate reports of casualties.
"There were three improvised explosive devices explosions at Gomari and Ajilari general area in Maiduguri at about 7:21 pm (1821 GMT)," military spokesman Sani Usman said in a statement.
Child bomber kills up to six in northeast Nigeria
A child bomber killed up to six people on Aug. 25 outside a bus station in the heartland of the Boko Haram Islamist insurgency in northeastern Nigeria.
Witnesses reported seeing a "young girl" trying to get into the station in the Yobe state capital Damaturu around 7:00 am and refusing to be searched by security guards at the gate before blowing herself up.
