Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım sent a congratulatory message to German Chancellor Angela Merkel after she was re-elected with her Christian Democratic Union (CDU) in Germany's election on Sept. 24. 

"I have sent a written congratulatory note to Merkel," Yıldırım said in a televised interview on Sept. 25.

The official preliminary results of the German election show a 33% victory for the CDU / HSU, the Social Democratic Party goes very far behind with 20.5%, while the far-right Alternative to Germany ranks third with 12.6% in the Bundestag. Reports Sega. 

The German election commission confirmed on Monday morning that the CDU/CSU alliance led by Angela Merkel had won the parliamentary elections.

Former German Chancellor Helmut Kohl, the architect of German reunification, died on June 16, the mass-selling newspaper Bild reported. He was 87.
