Murska Sobota – While the number of white stork pairs has been constant or increasing throughout Slovenia in recent years, it has been steadily decreasing in the north-eastern region of Prekmurje, which is the typical stork habitat in Slovenia.

German research, led by Dr. Andrea Flack of the Max Planck Institute for Ornithology in Germany, has found that white storks are changing their migratory behavior. In the past, they were known to breed from Europe to north-west Africa and western Asia. Now, however, the birds are flocking to rubbish dumps where junk food can easily be found.

A stork brought a bra to his nest in Simitli and his mate left him, reports the BGNES agency. 

According to the report, the bra – large size, white and somewhat dirty, has been dangling from the nest since the spring, when the male stork brought it to repair the nest.
