Streaming films more diverse than cinematic releases
Films released by streaming services are more racially representative and more likely to have female leads than those that debut in theatres, a study released on March 30 showed.
Movies destined for the small screen were almost entirely reflective of the U.S. population, the Hollywood Diversity Report said, with majority-minority casts doing especially well with audiences.
Adam Sandler receives Mark Twain Prize
Adam Sandler placed his hand on the bronze bust of Mark Twain and speculated that it "one day might be the weapon used to bludgeon me in my sleep."
A host of comedic and entertainment royalty gathered at Washington's Kennedy Center as Sandler was presented with the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor.

‘Creed III’ punches its way to top of box office
MGM's boxing drama "Creed III" scored an opening-round knockout this weekend, taking in an estimated $58.7 million to top North America's box office in one of the biggest debuts ever for a sports film.
That made first-time director Michael B. Jordan, who again plays rock-hard boxer Apollo Creed, the "undefeated box office champion," said industry analyst Exhibitor Relations.
