Erden Eruç, a 17 Guinness record holder Turkish rower who is mostly known for "finishing an around the world trip under own muscle power," has broken another record by crossing the Pacific Ocean in 239 days.

Erden Eruç, a Turkish adventurer who was the first person to circumnavigate the globe solo using human power, has started a sailing expedition from California towards China to break a new record and raise awareness about the environmental crisis caused by human activities.

Erden Eruç, the holder of 15 Guinness world records, hopes to be the first person in history to row across the Pacific Ocean, from North America to Asia.

Speaking to Anadolu Agency in an interview, Eruç said that in two weeks, he planned to depart from Crescent City, California in a rowboat for Hong Kong, where he aims to make landfall in March 2022.

The Solar Impulse 2, an experimental aircraft flying around the world to draw attention to clean energy technologies, took off on May 2 from near San Francisco en route to the southwest city of Phoenix.

A Swiss man attempting to circumnavigate the globe with an aircraft powered only by the sun's energy has broken a world record for the longest non-stop solo flight, the project team said on July 2. 

The revolutionary Solar Impulse 2 aircraft passed "the point of no return" on June 29 after it left Japan bound for Hawaii, the most ambitious leg of its quest to circumnavigate the globe powered only by the sun.

An unscheduled stop of the Solar Impulse plane in Japan has hampered its bid to break a world record.

"Decision taken for intermediate landing in Nagoya & wait for better conditions," Bertrand Piccard, the initiator of the venture who has been developing the solar-powered plane for years, announced on Twitter as the the plane was en route to Hawaii from China.

Solar Impulse 2 took off from Myanmar's second biggest city of Mandalay early March 30 and headed for China's Chongqing, the fifth flight of a landmark journey to circumnavigate the globe powered solely by the sun.
