Police in Serres, northern Greece, have apprehended a 65-year-old suspect on charges of antiquity theft.
Tens of thousands of ancient coins found off Sardinia
A diver who spotted something metallic not far from Sardinia's coast has led to the discovery of tens of thousands of ancient bronze coins.
Italy's culture ministry said Saturday that the diver alerted authorities, who sent divers assigned to an art protection squad along with others from the ministry's undersea archaeology department.
Peru returns seized Roman coins to Italy
Peru on March 9 returned a collection of 73 Roman coins, some from the second and fourth centuries, to the Italian embassy in Lima, the Foreign Ministry said.
The coins were seized from a Peruvian woman in 2021 at the international airport in Cusco, a tourist hub and gateway to the world renown Machu Picchu Inca citadel.

The palace on the hill
Several indications suggested its existence, but after the recent excavations on Castelli Hill in the Old Town of Hania it is now almost certain that the hill was a palatial center of the 13-14th centuries BC that may have been the most important in western Crete. The movable finds also include a "treasure trove" of 33 silver coins from the Classical period.

Exhibition displays Ottoman and Republic-era objects
As part of the 100th anniversary of the Turkish Republic, an exhibition, displaying Ottoman and Republican-era objects, was opened to visitors at the Presidential National Library in Turkish capital Ankara.
Titled "Power and Memory, The Power of Art," the exhibition features decorations, coins, medals and precious documents, kept in the Mint and Stamp Printing Collections.
