Romania's COVID-19 daily case count rises by 1,975; tests performed in last 24 hours - over 15,500

A number of 1,975 new cases of people infected with SARS-CoV-2 have been registered in the last 24 hours, following more than 15,500 tests performed nationwide, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) reported on Sunday. These are cases that have not previously tested positive, says GCS. As of Sunday, 745,318 cases of people infected with the novel coronavirus have been confirmed in Romania.

Cyprus tightens rules for incoming travelers

Cyprus is tightening measures for people arriving at airports from other countries, imposing a 72-hour self-quarantine and a PCR (polymerase chain reaction) test within 72 hours after that, the Health Ministry announced.

It said the measures will come into force tomorrow and will apply for people arriving from low-risk category A and B countries.

1,267 coronavirus cases on Wednesday as hospitalisations drop below 1,000

Ljubljana – Slovenia reported 1,267 new coronavirus cases from 14,545 tests on Wednesday as the epidemiological situation kept improving. Hospitalisations dropped below 1,000 for the first time since early November. Further 16 Covid-19 patients died, fresh official data show.

New virus infections remain above 1,000 for second day

Greek health authorities recorded 1,151 new coronavirus cases on Wednesday, bringing the total number to 159,866.

Of these new cases, only eight were reported at the country's entry points.

The National Organization for Public Health (EODY) said 27 more patients died from Covid-19, raising the total number of fatalities to 5,878. Their median age was 79.

Covid-19 Tests Become Mandatory on Entrance to Bulgaria from January 29

From today, January 29, until the end of April Bulgaria introduces the requirement for all arrivals in the country to show a medical certificate for a negative result of a PCR coronavirus test, carried out up to 72 hours before entering the country. Travelers without such a test will be put under a 10-day quarantine.

More than 800 new Covid-19 infections recorded for second day

Greek health authorities confirmed 858 new coronavirus infections on Wednesday, raising the total number of cases to 154,083.

This was the second day in a row that the number of new cases have been above the 800-mark.

Of these new infections, just 11 were reported at the country's entry points.
