Smartphones, electronics to get closer airport checks: US
Air travelers with smartphones or other electronic devices must be able to turn them on to take them aboard under new security measures, US authorities said Sunday.

Commissioner orders BIA to provide surveillance data
BELGRADE - Rodoljub Sabic, commissioner for information of public importance and personal data protection, ordered the Security Information Agency (BIA) to submit the data regarding the number of persons placed under surveillance in the course of 2013 to non-governmental organization Youth Initiative for Human Rights within five days.
Iraqi charged with killing two compatriots
A 37-year-old Iraqi national currently in prison for drug-related offenses has been charged with killing two compatriots in the Athens suburb of Aghios Dimitrios in January 2010, police sources said on Tuesday.
According to police, the alleged perpetrator and victims had scuffled following an argument over the disappearance of a quantity of heroin.

Snowden 'Requested Asylum' in Brazil
Edward Snowden has applied for asylum in Brazil, as the former NSA contractor and whistleblower himself announced in an interview.
"If Brazil offers me asylum, then I'll gladly accept it. I would like to live in Brazil," the Moscow Times quotes him as saying on Brazilian television channel Globo News.

Bosnian Arrested Over Nightclub Bomb Attack
Pajazetovic, 30, was arrested on Sunday on suspicion of causing the blast in the nightclub in the north-western Bosnian town, in which he and some 30 others were wounded.
Media reports claimed that he was causing trouble at the club by insulting customers and was ejected by bouncers. When he tried to go back in, he was denied entry, and later returned with the bomb.

Prosecutors' union calls for police guards
The prosecutors? union issued a statement on Friday calling for the government to ensure that all judicial officials have adequate police protection after Alternate Minister for Citizens? Protection Yiannis Panoussis said that he would reduce the number of policemen assigned to security details.
