Turkish Education Ministry lets religious Ensar Foundation arrange courses in public education centers

A protocol signed by the Education Ministry and the Ensar Foundation, an Islamic-inspired children's group that was previously embroiled in a major child abuse scandal, allows the latter to organize courses in nearly 1,000 public education centers, daily Cumhuriyet reported on Aug. 2. 

22% of Students Drop out of School between 5th and 7th Grade

22% of students drop out between the 5th to 7th grade of education. This was stated by Aneliya Klisarova from BSP in the studio of "The Day Begins" on BNT.

According to Klisarova, until we change the curriculum, we can not have valuable textbooks. A broad public debate is needed to make them sustainable.

A draft curriculum presented by Turkey's Education Ministry has received a total of 184,042 suggestions, with the most complaints and suggestions coming regarding classes on Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of modern Turkey, and the theory of evolution.
