BoC posts losses in 2017 on provisioning
Bank of Cyprus more than doubled its provisions for bad loans in 2017, leading to a swing from profits to losses.
The financial figures that the island's main lender released on Tuesday showed losses of 552 million euros last year, against a profit of 64 million in 2016.
Provisions amounted to 779 million euros, up 111 percent from 2016.

Fewer Cypriots visit Greece in January
The Passengers Survey of the Statistical Service of Cyprus (CyStat) showed on Tuesday that 107,759 residents of Cyprus returned to the island from a trip abroad in January compared to 108,981 in the corresponding month last year, recording a decrease of 1.1 percent.

Cyprus to help Lebanon build Mediterranean Sea rescue center
Cyprus's Defense Ministry says the island nation will help Lebanon build a search-and-rescue center for responding to emergencies off its Mediterranean Sea coastline.
A Defense Ministry statement says Cypriot officials will provide Lebanese authorities with training, technical know-how and financial assistance for the center.
Fog prompts flight cancelations at Thessaloniki airport
Dense fog prompted aviation authorities at the northern port city of Thessaloniki to cancel several flights on Monday, while it was also causing lengthy delays in arrivals and departures.
BoC Holdings sees profits turn to losses
Bank of Cyprus Holdings Plc announced a nine-month total income of 693 million euros, against 717 million in the January-September 2016 period, in a Cyprus Stock Exchange filing on Tuesday.

Jumbo reports 8 percent annual rise in profits
Jumbo, Greece's biggest listed retailer, on Monday posted an 8 percent rise in net profit for the fiscal year to end-June, mainly due to robust growth in Bulgaria and Romania.
Net profit for the 12 months came in at 131 million euros, up from 121 million euros in the year-ago period. It will pay a total dividend of 0.36 euros a share.

Tourists in Greece spend far less than in Spain, Cyprus
On average, each visitor to Greece in June spent 45 percent less than their counterparts in Spain in the same month and 20 percent less than those in Cyprus, according to comparisons of official data from the three Mediterranean countries that compete for visitors in the tourism market.

Greek city properties bottom of global list
Athens and Thessaloniki rank pretty low among their global peers when it comes to the course of residential property prices, reflecting both the continued crisis in the local market and the considerable recovery seen internationally, as recorded in the year's first quarter by real estate consultants Knight Frank.
