The first floor of the Archaeological Museum of Kos will be accessible to the public as of Saturday, August 5, the Greek Culture Ministry said on Friday.

The main port on Kos, which was seriously damaged by a 6.6-magnitude earthquake last month that struck the island, killing two people, is to become fully operational again on Saturday following the completion of a first phase of repairs.
Belgian fugitive faces prosecutor on Rhodes
Police on the island of Rhodes in the Dodecanese on Friday detained a 31-year-old Belgian national who is wanted by Europol for arson, manslaughter and grievous bodily harm.
French authorities had issued a European warrant for his arrest last month in connection with a series of offenses he is alleged to have committed on July 14 in France.

Kos earthquake recovery aid approved
The government has approved 300,000 euros in aid for the eastern Aegean island of Kos, which suffered extensive damage in a devastating earthquake last month. According to authorities, the aid will go toward the repair of damage to infrastructure.

Work gets under way to repair quake-damaged port in Kos
Work got under way on Thursday to repair the main port on the eastern Aegean island of Kos, which suffered extensive damage in a 6.6 magnitude earthquake on July 21.
Kos Archaeological Museum assesses quake damage
Among the many buildings on Kos that sustained damage during last week's 6.6 magnitude earthquake was the Dodecanese island's archaeological museum. Thankfully, the historical structure built in 1936 survived the temblor but some of its ancient exhibits were less fortunate.

Kos: Several dozen buildings unsafe due to earthquake
A survey of the impact of last Friday's 6.6 magnitude earthquake on the island of Kos found that 52 buildings have been damaged to the point that they have been declared unsafe.
