Romania attaches great importance to speeding up the economic integration and political association of the Republic of Moldova, Georgia and Ukraine with the European Union, Romania's Foreign Ministry (MAE) quotes Foreign Minister Teodor Melescanu as saying at an EU meeting on Monday.

The joint celebration of the Centennial of Romania's Greater Union and the Independence Centennial of Poland offer the two states cooperation opportunities for emphasizing their modern history's reference moments, added to the Romania-Poland strategic partnership, the Romanian ambassador to Poland, Ovidiu Dranga, told AGERPRES in an interview.

Romania supports Minsk's progress in fulfilling its commitments pledged under the Eastern Partnership, Bucharest taking on an active role in shaping the European policy towards the European Union's eastern partners, Romania's Ambassador to the Republic of Belarus Viorel Mosanu said in an interview to AGERPRES.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Teodor Melescanu said on Tuesday that Romania's efforts next year, during its term at the Presidency of the Council of the European Union, will focus on the optimization and the practical implementation of the goals of EU's overall strategy, in line with political consensus.

Foreign Affairs Minister Teodor Melescanu participated on Monday in Brussels in the Foreign Affairs Council (FAC) meeting, context in which the head of the Romanian diplomacy pleaded for the EU to maintain its attention and support, so that the process of implementing the Association Agreement / the Free Trade Agreement continue in the relationship with Ukraine.

The European Union and Moldova signed a package of documents in Brussels on Thursday that will enable Chisinau to receive macro-financial aid worth 100 million euros.

According to reports, Moldova will receive 40 million euros in the form of a grant and 60 million euros as a loan. The first installment is due to arrive by the end of this year.
