Greece’s record year for tourism and concerns about sustainability

Last year was a record year for Greek tourism, with the latest statistics showing a remarkable comeback for the sector from the years of lockdowns during the pandemic.

While these trends are welcome, there are also some worrying signs, as 2023 saw an increasing use of the term "over tourism".

Sofia Amongst Top-Regions With Highest Share Of Brain Business Jobs

  • In Sofia fully 12.4 percent of adults are employed in brain business jobs. This is amongst the highest shares in all of Europe.
  • In the average European region 5.8 percent of adults work in brain business jobs. The share of knowledge-intensive workers in Sofia is 114% higher than the average European region.

    Cyprus stays on course for growth

    The Cyprus Composite Leading Economic Index (CCLEI) continued its positive year-over-year growth trend in April 2023, providing further support for the economic forecasts of the Cypriot economy. Despite expectations of a slowdown, the economy is seen avoiding a recession, as indicated by the Economics Research Center (ERC) of the University of Cyprus' Economics Department.
