Preparing for and assuming the presidency of the Council of the European Union is a priority with the government of Romania, said Prime Minister Viorica Dancila, who started meetings with the members of her cabinet on Monday to agree on the details of each portfolio.

It would mean an end to moving the clocks every March and October.

EU announced this after an informal poll in which most of the surveyed European citizen declared against the current system.

The president of the EU Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker told BBC that millions of people believed that "summer time should be year-round and that's what will happen."

BERLIN (Reuters) - The European Union's chief executive said on Friday the bloc was set to end the practice of switching between summer and winter time after a survey found most EU citizens against the practice.

The 70th meeting of the Directors General (DGs) of EUPAN - an informal network of the DGs responsible for public administration in the EU Member States and the European Commission - was held in Sofia as part of the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union. The event was hosted by the "Modernisation of Administration" Directorate of the Bulgarian Council of Ministers.

Coreper today endorsed an agreement between the Bulgarian presidency and European Parliament representatives to set up a single digital gateway which will provide access to online information and procedures, assistance and problem-solving services to citizens and companies.

On 12 June 2018, negotiators from the three institutions continued their discussions on strengthening the EU Transparency Register.

The 40th meeting of the Directors-General for Civil Protection of the EU, of the European Economic Area and of the Candidate Countries was held on 31 May and 1 June in Sofia. Representatives of the European Commission and the General Secretariat of the Council of the EU also took part in the meeting.
