Russia Confirms Putin Wrote Confidential Letter to Iran President

BELGRADE - Moscow says Russian President Vladimir Putin's point man on Syria has delivered a "confidential" letter penned by the Russian head of state to Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, Press TV reported.

The Russian army has launched "a large-scale operation" and is using cruise missiles to target terrorists in Syria's Homs and Idlib provinces.

RT reported this on Tuesday, citing Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, who spoke during a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Russian Army's top leadership.

MOSCOW - Russian President Vladimir Putin has awarded Serbian film director Emir Kusturica with the Order of Friendship, Interfax has reported.

Film director Emir Kusturica is among cultural workers awarded this year by Russian President Vladimir Putin, TASS has reported.

The Order of Friendship is given to Kusturica for his "significant contribution to promoting friendship and cooperation between peoples."
