"Arest," "La Gomera" and "Monsters" movies to be screened at White Night of the Romanian Films
"Arest" directed by Andrei Cohn, "La Gomera" directed by Corneliu Porumboiu and "Monsters" directed by Marius Olteanu are among the movies to be screened on Friday evening in Bucharest and Cluj-Napoca, within the White Night of the Romanian Films, a release of the organisers sent to AGERPRES informs. The event takes place in nine places of Bucharest and Cluj-Napoca.

The Athens International Film Festival (AIFF), the biggest event of its kind in the Greek capital, which this year will feature a fascinating selection of more than 200 films from different parts of the world, takes place from September 18-29 at 12 venues across the city. The event opens on Wednesday with Cannes' Palme d'Or winning black comedy "Parasite" by South Korea's Bong Joon-ho.

Nazi comedy 'Jojo Rabbit' wins Toronto film fest prize
"Jojo Rabbit" on Sept. 15 won the Toronto film festival's top prize, an Oscars bellwether which gives the satirical Nazi comedy a boost as Hollywood's award season kicks into gear. The movie from "Thor: Ragnarok" director Taika Waititi tells the story of a young German boy living during World War Two whose imaginary friend is a make-believe version of Adolf Hitler.

Edward Snowden Seeks Asylum in France
Whistleblower Edward Snowden, living in Russia since leaking a trove of classified documents showing the scope of post-9/11 US government surveillance, wants to claim asylum in France, AFP reported.
He said he had applied for asylum in France in 2013, during the presidency of Francois Hollande, but told Inter Radio that he hoped President Emmanuel Macron would approve his request.

Israeli Film Festival - between September 25 to 28, in Bucharest; Golden Bear award-winning film to be presented
The Israeli Film Festival will take place in Bucharest between September 25 and 28, with "Synonymes" film directed by Nadav Lapid, which won the Golden Berlin Bear 2019, to be presented in the closing night, reads a press release of the Israeli Embassy in Bucharest sent to AGERPRES. The festival will bring five Israeli productions at the "Elvire Popesco" Cinema.
