Man found dead after fire at abandoned house in Athens

A man?s charred body has been found following a fire in an abandoned house in central Athens.

Twenty firefighters were called to the scene of the fire early Monday. It is not clear what caused the blaze.

Authorities will launch an investigation into the fire and to discover the identity of the man found dead inside the building.

Refinery blast leaves six injured, one worker in serious condition

Six people were injured,  five of them seriously, when a blaze broke out on Friday morning at the that Hellenic Petroleum (EL.PE) refinery west of Athens proper.

A 31-year old refinery worker was admitted to a nearby hospital with 70 percent burns over his body, while the other four were transported to other hospitals.

One dead, another seriously injured in old factory blaze in Volos

One man died while another was seriously injured on Thursday after a large fire broke out in an old factory in Volos, central Greece.

According to reports in local media, six people were allegedly inside the no-longer-in-use factory seeking to remove metal when the fire broke out under yet-to-be determined circumstances.

Kosovo: Beehives owned by Serb from Pasjane set on fire

PASJANE - Twenty-five beehives owned by Vlasta Guzvic from Pasjane, Kosov, have been set on fire, RTV Plus from Silovo has reported.

The fire broke out at around 11 p.m. CET on Saturday in an auxiliary hive at the outskirts of the village. There were no injured, and the damage to the hives is estimated at EUR 5,000.

Arson suspected after Iraklio minimarket burns down

A minimarket owned by a Bangladeshi man on Crete burned down early on Tuesday.

The store, located in the center of Iraklio, may have been targeted by arsonists, authorities said.

The fire service said that it was investigating all possible causes for the blaze, which was extinguished before it caused damage to the surrounding homes.

Nobody was injured.

Rescue workers pull man's body out of Attica well

Rescue workers on Tuesday retrieved the body of a 54-year-old man from the bottom of a well in Stamata, eastern Attica.

A rescue effort involving five fire engines and 12 firefighters was launched after locals reported the man’s fall.

It remained unclear how the 54-year-old fell into the 17-meter-deep well.
