Galatasaray beats Fenerbahçe to claim third consecutive Turkish Cup
Galatasaray captured the Ziraat Turkish Cup late May 26, defeating city archrival Fenerbahçe 1-0 in the southern province of Antalya.
German forward Lukas Podolski provided the Lions with the game winner, scoring the only goal of the final in the 30th minute. The German international was also voted Man of the Match.

Galatasaray Odeabank Istanbul will play for its first continental trophy after surviving overtime to knock out last season's runner-up, Herbalife Gran Canaria Las Palmas, on April 6 in the Canary Islands.
Gran Canaria won the game 94-81 but lost the series by a single point on aggregate, as Galatasaray had won 75-89 a week earlier in the series opener.

The postponement of the match comes a day after a suicide attack in Istanbul claimed the lives of five people, including the perpetrator and left 36 other injured.

Podolski, who moved to the Istanbul-based club from Arsenal on a three-year contract last summer, told German daily Bild that he is now considering leaving Turkey given the political situation in the country.
UEFA bans Galatasaray for one year
The top football authority in Europe, UEFA, has banned Turkey's Galatasaray from continental cups for one year after the Istanbul side failed to fulfill the financial fair play requirements.
The ban will be valid from the first year that Galatasaray, now 16 points behind leader Fenerbahçe in the Spor Toto Super League, gains the right to join a European cup.
