Zeugma Mosaic Museum breaks visitor record

Zeugma Mosaic Museum in the southeastern province of Gaziantep, one of the largest mosaic museums in the world, broke its daily visitor record during the Eid holiday.

Gaziantep Museum Director Özgür Çomak stated that the all-time visitor record across Türkiye was broken on the second day of Eid al-Fitr and said, "We reached a record number with 5,660 people on the second day alone."

Museum offers tour of Anatolian chronology

The Gaziantep Archaeology Museum, where the Roman-era clay seal impressions, which is the world's largest collection of clay seal impressions from the ancient city of Zeugma, and the skeletal remains of the extinct Maraş Elephant, are on display, offers the opportunity to examine the history of Anatolia in chronological order.

Record number of tourists visit Turkish mosaic museum

The Zeugma Mosaic Museum, one of the world's largest mosaic museums, in Turkey's southeast attracted a record number of visitors with 340,569 people in 2019, according to official data.

The museum, located in the southeastern province of Gaziantep, drew 108,835 tourists in 2016, 169,773 in 2017, and 267,552 tourists in 2018, according to the Turkish Culture and Tourism Ministry data.

Minister Avcı asks for Zeugma mosaics to be returned

Culture and Tourism Minister Nabi Avcı has launched the opening of the Byzantine Hall in the Zeugma Mosaic Museum in the southeastern province of Gaziantep. 

Stating that the Zeugma Mosaic Museum is a venue displaying not only Turkey's but the world's important historical, cultural and archaeological artifacts, Avcı thanked those who contributed to the formation of the museum. 

Traces of Palmyra seen in ancient Zeugma

Some sculptures unearthed during archaeological excavations in the ancient city of Zeugma, which are on display at the Gaziantep Archaeology Museum, have been identified to have the same style as the ones in Syria's ancient Palmyra city, which is currently on the world's agenda after it received severe damage from the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).
