"Oppenheimer" continued to streamroll through Hollywood's awards season on Saturday, winning the top prize, for outstanding cast, along with awards for Cillian Murphy and Robert Downey Jr., at the 30th Screen Actors Guild Awards.

Stars of the silver screen will gather in London on Sunday for the annual BAFTA awards, often an indicator of Oscars glory, with "Oppenheimer" in the running for an unrivalled 13 awards.

The Golden Globes bounced back from years of scandal and dwindling audiences to draw 9.4 million viewers, preliminary figures showed on Jan. 8, even as the gala's flailing host was savaged by critics.

Michelle Yeoh, Will Ferrell, Angela Bassett and Amanda Seyfried will be among the presenters at the Golden Globe Awards on Jan. 7. The show announced its first batch of presenters on Jan. 3. Others taking the stage will be Julia Garner, George Lopez and Justin Hartley.

The scandal-hit association of foreign journalists that created the Golden Globes will be wound down as the Hollywood award show is formally purchased by private investors including US billionaire Todd Boehly, it was announced on June 11.

The organizers of the Golden Globes on July 16 banned its members from receiving gifts and free trips from movie studios and TV networks seeking to clinch awards for their shows and stars.

The 2022 Golden Globe Awards have been canceled by NBC as the Hollywood Foreign Press Association tries to reform amid mounting controversy.

"We continue to believe that the HFPA is committed to meaningful reform," said the Comcast-owned network this morning in a statement.

The Golden Globes kick off the Hollywood awards season on Jan. 5, but the most talked-about attraction at the customarily boozy dinner in Beverly Hills may be the wicked tongue of host Ricky Gervais.

Gervais, the no-holds-barred British comedian, returns for a fifth time and is already promising to let the barbs fly.
