After the Flood, Serbian Villages Left to the Mercy of a River

On the morning of June 3 last year, village head Djordje Matijasevic stood on the riverbank. It was raining heavily.

In nearby Guca, where hundreds of thousands of revellers gather for a raucous trumpet festival every August, the river at around 6 a.m. was 65 cm high. Three hours later it stood at 2.29 metres and by midday the water had risen to 4.40 metres. 

Spotted eagle "travels" to Estonia via Serbia

BELGRADE - The female spotted eagle named Iti, member of a globally endangered species, makes a stopover in Serbia during the spring migration to Estonia for the sixth year in a row.

Instead of heading straight north across Bulgaria after flying over Turkey, Iti chooses to take the longer route and visits Serbia instead, the Serbian Bird Protection and Study Society says.

Japan's aid for rehabilitation of water facilities in Serbia

BELGRADE- The Japanese government has approved a EUR 3 million grant to the Serbian government to help the rehabilitation of areas affected by massive flooding that hit Serbia in May and an agreement was reached between the two governments that the funds be used for projects for rehabilitation and reconstruction of water facilities damaged by the floods, the Serbian government's media relations
