The work titled Noaptea orasului / City night, by painter Ion Tuculescu, was the best-selling work at the summer auction, organized on Tuesday evening, by Artmark house, being bought at the sum of 140,000 Euro.

The value of transactions increased by approximately 20 per cent in 2020 compared to 2019, with works by Nicolae Grigorescu, Stefan Luchian and Adrian Ghenie being among the best-selling, according to Artmark.

Painter Vladimir Zamfirescu has died on Monday evening, aged 84. He will be buried on Thursday at the Bellu Catholic Cemetery. "The National Museum of Romanian Literature (MNLR) with great sadness announces the demise on June 1, 2020, of painter Vladimir Zamfirescu, a great personality of the Romanian and European contemporary art," reads a post on the MNLR Website.

Nicolae Tonitza's "Nude From the Back" fetched 72,500 euro at Artmark's spring auction held in Bucharest on Wednesday evening.

Nicolae Grigorescu's painting "Tarancuta cu basma alba" (Peasant Girl with White Headscarf) was sold in the Artmark's Autumn Auction for the sum of 350,000 euro on Wednesday night, becoming the artist's best-selling work, according to a press release of the auction house.
