Haig Yazdjian

Oud virtuoso Haig Yazdjian will be on stage at The Zoo in the northern suburb of Halandri on Saturday, February 8, where the Syrian-Greek musician will present a set that blends different musical landscapes and eras. Yazdjian is one of the most important composers of the Greek world-jazz scene.

Contemporary folk singer Kalliopi Vetta and musician Haig Yazdjian, who blends traditional and modern sounds, teamed up several months back for appearances at different venues around Greece with a show that both highlights their individual careers and bridges their disparate elements.

The fourth Cretan World Music Festival, held on Wednesday, July 19, in Alikianos in Hania, is hosting three ensembles whose music is inspired by the island's history and landscapes. The evening opens with the Cretan Music Group, comprising festival founder Maria Manousaki on the violin and four skilled musicians playing original work and adaptations that blend Cretan music and American jazz.

Turkish musician and composer Omar Faruk Tekbilek performs at the Vrachon Theater in Vyronas on Wednesday, June 8. Joining Tekbilek on stage are artists Evanthia Reboutsika, Petro-Loukas Chalkias, Haig Yazdjian, Melina Kana and Fotis Theodoridis. The concert is set to start at 9 p.m.

Anatolian Culture and Kalan Music have collaborated to organize a concert in Istanbul to commemorate Armenian intellectuals who were sent to their deaths in 1915. 

The concert, titled "In memoriam/April 24," will take place on April 22 at the Istanbul Congress Center at 8:30 p.m.
