Purported Twitter account of new foreign minister proves to be hoax
A Twitter account purporting to belong to new Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis proved to be a hoax on Wednesday. The account seems to have been created by Italian hoaxer and journalist Tommasso Debenedetti.
Probe opened in Thessaloniki over courthouse prank bomb calls
A prosecutor on Tuesday launched an investigation to trace the perpetrators behind a number of hoax telephone calls claiming that bombs had been planted at the main court complex in Thessaloniki on Monday, which resulted in the mobilization of the police force in the northern port city for two days in a row and the evacuation of the building.
Filmmaker Costa-Gavras target of Twitter hoax
A fake Twitter account attributed to newly appointed Culture Minister Myrsini Zorba on Thursday incorrectly announced the death of France-based Greek filmmaker Costa-Gavras.
The news was picked up by major news networks before it was proven to be a fake account set up by Italian journalist Tommaso Debenedetti.

Turkish private arrested for making hoax 'bomb call'
A 20-year-old basic private was arrested in the Aegean province of Manisa on Sept. 6 after making a hoax call to the 112 medical emergency number and telling them to "send many ambulances to the [provincial] security directorate" or otherwise, what is thought to be a bomb would "explode."
Croatian minister denies wearing fascist uniform hat
Croatian Culture Minister Zlatko Hasanbegovic has said that a photograph showing him wearing an Ustasha hat is "a hoax" meant to "discredit him."
He also announced he had no plans to resign.
