Border Police activity report: 60 pct plunge in cross-border traveler numbers in 2020

Romania's border traffic plunged almost 60 percent in 2020 compared to the previous year, as approximately 28.5 million people moved in or out of the country. "Traffic values at the border checkpoints stood at about 28.5 million people (23.8 million EU citizens and 4.7 million non-EU citizens), both on the inbound and on the outbound.

Turkish Airlines leads European carriers in daily flights

Turkey's flag carrier Turkish Airlines ranked first in Europe in terms of the daily number of flights between Feb. 8 and Feb. 15, according to data from the European Organization for Air Navigation Safety (Eurocontrol).

Turkish Airlines operated on average 592 flights a day in the said period, while Turkey's low-cost carrier Pegasus came in third in the list at 263 flights.

No major problems reported as more students return to schools

Ljubljana/Kranj/Radovljica – All primary school students and final-year secondary school students from western and central Slovenia returned to school after over four months on Monday. Headteachers reported no major difficulties in organising classes. Most students are happy to be back. Schools in the eastern part of the country closed for a week-long holiday.

Coronavirus/ GCS: 6,176 fines in past 24 hours amounting to 1,108,050 lei

Bucharest, Feb 14 /Agerpres/ - Police and gendarmes have applied, in the last 24 hours, 6,176 sanctions for minor offenses, amounting to a total of 1,108,050 lei, as a result of violating the provisions of Law 55/2020 on some measures for prevention and combating the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) informed on Sunday.

Turkey details upcoming in-class school lessons

Turkey will partially resume face-to-face school lessons for the 12th grade on March 1, the National Education Ministry announced on Feb. 12. 

The second semester of the 2020-2021 school year will start Monday with distance education, said the ministry in a statement, adding that as of March 1, in-class lessons would start for students in the 12th grade with reduced student numbers.
