The International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague has issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin, the tribunal said in a press release.

As Sudan's economic crisis drags on, grocer Hassan Omar keeps busy cleaning packaged food items that have been gathering dust for months as his dwindling customer base make fewer purchases.

"People can no longer afford to buy all their needs," Omar, 43, told AFP at his grocery store in the capital Khartoum.

Sudanese officials say military forces have detained at least five senior government officials, and the main pro-democracy political group has called on people to take to the streets to oppose an apparent new military coup, according to Britain's The Guardian.

Joint military forces were behind the detention on Oct. 25 of civilian members of Sudan's ruling council and ministers in the transitional government, the information ministry said, in what activists denounced as a "coup".

In Sudan's capital Khartoum, a hip-hop producer who had his equipment seized during anti-government protests last year is now free to mix tracks in his studio.

Across town, an all-female troupe in pink T-shirts and white jeans practice rhythmic dance routines late in the evening in a dimly-lit car park.

Turkish and Sudanese cooperation committees have discussed bilateral relations for the first time since the ousting of former President Omar al-Bashir on April 11.

Sudan's ex-president Omar al-Bashir was charged with corruption-related offenses on June 16, as he appeared in public for the first time since he was overthrown and detained in April.

The head of Sudan's Transitional Military Council (TMC) announced on early June 4 that elections will be held within nine months to resolve the crisis since the ouster of former President Omar Al-Bashir. 

Sudan's military rulers have transferred ousted president Omar al-Bashir to prison, a family source said on April 17, as demonstrators keep up their sit-in outside the army complex calling for a swift transfer to a civilian government.

Both western and eastern nations have called on a smooth and peaceful transition in Sudan, with a proposal by the ruling "military council" promising the country would have a new civilian government one day after the armed forces overthrew President Omar al-Bashir.
