Klyuchevskaya Sopka

One of Russia's most active volcanoes erupted on Tuesday, spewing a huge cloud of ash far into the sky and smothering villages in gray volcanic dust, prompting an aviation alert around Russia's far-eastern Kamchatka peninsula, Reuters reported.

The Shiveluch Volcano of Kamchatka has ejected a pylon of ash 11 kilometers above sea level, TASS reportedly referring to Russian vulcanologists. The announcement is made by scientists from the Kamchatka Volcanic Eruption Response Group of the Institute of Volcanology and Seismic Activity of the Far Eastern Department of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

The Kamchatka filial of the geophysical service of the Russian Academy of Science registered eruption and 6km pillar of ash from Klyuchevskaya volcano positioned on the peninsula, reported RIA Novosti.

'This Wednesday morning local time the volcano blasted ash in to the atmosphere and it spread on more than 60km southwest of the volcano, writes the agency.
