The 9th Kocaeli Book Fair opened in the western province of Kocaeli, drawing bookworms from across the region.
        
Kocaeli Governor Hasan Basri Güzeloğlu and Mayor İbrahim Karaosmanoğlu attended the opening ceremony of the fair on May 13. 

Some 118 projects by undergraduate communication students received a host of prizes at the 28th Young Communicators' Competition organized by the Aydın Doğan Foundation (ADV) at the Cibali campus of Kadir Has Universty in Istanbul on Feb. 21.

The head of the gender equality commission at the Turkish Parliament has called for trial without arrest for men accused of marrying children.

The dead body of a kidnapped businessman has been found buried in the western province of Kocaeli and police have detained 19 suspects in connection to the kidnapping and killing.
