The public prosecutor in the case into the killing of 19-year-old Gezi victim Ali ?smail Korkmaz has appealed the sentence given to police officer Mevlüt Saldo?an, claiming that Saldo?an should have been sentenced to life in prison on charges of first degree murder.

Hundreds of people, including family and friends, gathered in central Antakya at 10:45 p.m. to lay flowers at the spot where the 22-year-old was hit by a police tear gas canister.

Over a thousand people gathered in Eskişehir to commemorate Gezi victim Ali İsmail Korkmaz on June 2, who was fatally beaten by plainclothes police officers a year ago before dying on July 10 in a coma due to injuries sustained in the incident.
