Šešelj likely to be released on Tuesday

BELGRADE -- It will be known on Monday when the leader of the Serb Radical Party (SRS) Vojislav Šešelj will return to Serbia, Rasim Ljajić has said.

The head of the Commission for Cooperation with the Hague Tribunal (ICTY) and the deputy prime minister noted that Šešelj will most likely arrive on Tuesday.

BELGRADE - The president of the Coalition of Refugee Associations Miodrag Linta on Sunday condemned as hypocritical a statement by Croatian President Ivo Josipovic, who has expressed regret over the provisional release of Serbian Radical Party leader Vojislav Seselj from detention in the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) without a conviction.

Prime Minister Victor Ponta met the Romanian peacekeeping troops in Kosovo on Saturday. He wanted to personally thank them for their work, highly appreciated by fellow NATO members.

Hague Tribunal "trying to find way out for itself"

BELGRADE -- Rasim Ljajić says that by releasing Vojislav Šešelj, the Hague Tribunal is trying to find a way out of the situation it created with the unduly long trial.

THE HAGUE - The Trial Chamber of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) decided to grant Vojislav Seselj the provisional release, ICTY Spokesperson Magdalena Spalinska told Tanjug.

The Hague Tribunal has released the Serbian ultra-nationalist Vojislav Seselj on health grounds -although his marathon trial is not yet over.

THE HAGUE - The International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) has published a letter by President of the National Council for Cooperation with the ICTY Rasim Ljajic concerning Serbia's willingness to provide guarantees for Vojislav Seselj's possible provisional release, on condition that Seselj complies with all the requirements set by the relevant Trial Chamber.

BELGRADE - Serbian Radical Party (SRS) leader Vojislav Seselj has consented to being examined by a Serbian medical team in The Hague on condition that it is headed by cardiologist Milovan Bojic, former Serbian deputy prime minister and minister of health, Informer reported on Thursday.

Government estimates suggest that a headcount will reveal that some 20,000 guerrillas fought for the Kosovo Liberation Army against Serbian forces and are entitled to veterans’ pensions.

Former high-ranking Serbian interior ministry official Vlastimir Djordjevic will be sent to a German prison to serve his 18-year sentence for war crimes against Albanians in Kosovo.
